In a new study on energy efficiency of the 51 largest electric utilities Dominion ranks next to the bottom. Released June 13, 2017, by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, the “first edition of the Utility Energy Efficiency Scorecard assesses the 51 largest US electric utilities across a range of energy efficiency metrics. The metrics fall into three categories critical to utility-sector efficiency: (1) quantitative savings and spending performance, (2) program diversity and emerging areas, and (3) targets, business models, and evaluation.”
The in-depth study is the first of its kind, but Dominion ranked very low in previous less comprehensive studies.
The report received no utility funding, and all 51 utilities reviewed had the opportunity to review the report before publication. ACEEE is a nonprofit organization working to be a catalyst to advance energy efficiency policies, programs, technologies, investments, and behaviors.
