Despite the buildup in Virginia and elsewhere, natural gas is NOT the fuel helping the U.S. to fight climate change.

Another graph in the post shows that the natural gas displacement of coal accounts for only about a third of the decrease in CO2 emissions.  Despite what Dominion would like the world to believe, the largest driver of declining emissions is the energy efficiency brought about by Americans using less energy overall, even while our population grows and our economy expands.  Further, a growing share of the the credit for carbon reductions goes to non-carbon-emitting sources, primarily wind, and solar – both of which show double digit growth rates.
