Power, Class, and Race in the Fight for Clean Air

April 24, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 5 PM – 6:30 PM
Minor Hall Room 125
University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia 22902

Wild Virginia and the Green Greeks are proud to host this talk by Professor Vivian Thomson, an environmental policy writer, researcher, and lecturer based in Charlottesville, Virginia.

In 2017 she retired from her position as Professor in the Departments of Environmental Sciences and Politics at the University of Virginia, where she helped to found and also directed the Environmental Thought and Practice BA Program.

Her award-winning 2017 book, Climate of Capitulation: An Insider’s Account of State Power in a Coal Nation (MIT Press), has been hailed by readers and experts as a no-holds-barred exposé, a must-read, a page turner, and a vividly written memoir.
